Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

If you are interested in working together, the first step is to schedule a 20-minute consultation.

  • Therapy is a relational process, and fit matters. The early phase of therapy often focuses on getting to know one another, clarifying goals, and developing a shared understanding of what you would like to work on. Over time, sessions may become more focused on processing experiences, identifying patterns, and supporting meaningful change.

I work with many clients who have been in therapy before and are seeking a deeper, more engaged experience. The pace and focus of therapy are collaborative and responsive to your needs.

I am an active and engaged participant in the therapeutic process. I offer observations, reflections, and education when it supports insight and growth, while remaining supportive, compassionate, and respectful of your pace and readiness.

  • I work with teens and adults ages 14 and up. I am licensed to provide therapy to clients located in Texas and Pennsylvania. All sessions are held via secure telehealth.

  • Sessions are held via a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform through SimplePractice. You can join sessions from your computer, tablet, or smartphone using your preferred web browser.

No special software is required. Detailed instructions are provided prior to your first session, and your initial consultation also takes place on this platform so you can become familiar with how it works before beginning therapy.

  • At this time, therapy is primarily offered via secure telehealth.

In limited circumstances, in-home or onsite sessions may be arranged on a case-by-case basis. These sessions are subject to additional fees and logistical considerations, and availability is limited.

Agape Counseling Solutions is actively exploring options for a future office location in the Austin area, with the intention of establishing a physical space in 2026. Updates will be shared as plans evolve.

  • Payment is processed securely through the SimplePractice platform. I accept major credit and debit cards, as well as HSA and FSA cards with a credit card logo.

  • Yes. As a self-pay provider, I provide Good Faith Estimates of expected charges in accordance with the No Surprises Act.

A Good Faith Estimate is based on information available at the time it is provided and may be updated as treatment needs are clarified. Because mental health treatment is individualized and responsive to life circumstances, the total cost of care can be difficult to predict in advance. Changes such as illness, loss, relationship transitions, or other significant events may impact the type, frequency, or duration of services needed over time.

  • I do not work directly with insurance companies. Not all forms of meaningful support fit neatly into a diagnostic framework, and many people seek therapy during periods of transition, stress, grief, identity development, or personal growth. These experiences do not always warrant or benefit from a formal mental health diagnosis.

Insurance reimbursement typically requires the assignment of a diagnosis and ongoing documentation tied to medical necessity. While diagnosis can be clinically useful in some contexts, it is not always the most helpful or accurate way to understand a person’s needs. Practicing outside of insurance allows me to focus on the work itself rather than on meeting external requirements that may not serve the client.

  • Yes. I can provide a superbill upon request for clients who wish to seek possible out-of-network reimbursement from their insurance provider.

Submitting a superbill does not guarantee reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan, and reimbursement decisions are made solely by the insurance company. I do not assign or alter diagnoses for the purpose of insurance coverage.

  • Yes. I offer a complimentary 20-minute consultation. This conversation allows us to discuss what you are looking for, explore fit, and determine whether working together makes sense.

Consultations are not therapy sessions and are intended for initial conversation and clarity.

  • In addition to standard therapy sessions, I offer individual therapy intensives on a limited basis. Intensives involve longer sessions and are typically scheduled periodically rather than weekly.

They may be helpful for focused work around specific concerns, transitions, or periods of deeper processing. Availability and appropriateness are determined collaboratively and intensives are not a replacement for ongoing therapy.

  • My work is trauma-informed and integrative, drawing from relational, insight-oriented, and mind-body approaches.

I am trained in EMDR and am actively pursuing EMDR certification, which is a multi-year process. EMDR-informed concepts are used when clinically appropriate and tailored to the individual.

  • Yes. Therapy is confidential within the limits of the law. Confidentiality and its exceptions are reviewed in detail during the intake process so you feel informed and comfortable.

  • No. I am not an emergency or crisis provider.
